01 / Table
The flat top facet. Nearly everything you see in a stone leaves through it.
02 / Crown
The slope above the girdle. Its angle decides how much white light breaks into colour.
03 / Girdle
The band around the widest point. Too thin and it chips; too thick and the weight hides there.
04 / Pavilion
The lower half. A degree or two off and light passes straight through instead of coming back.
05 / Culet
The tip at the bottom. On a well cut stone there is almost nothing to see.
